William H. Gary, Sr.

William H. Gary, Sr. is the executive vice president of workforce and economic development for Cuyahoga Community College.

Mr. Gary was the vice president of workforce development at Northern Virginia Community College for fourteen years, where he led regional economic development initiatives and oversaw job training programs. In 2010, local officials there appointed him to a task force charged with finding ways to better attract and retain businesses in the community.

Mr. Gary is past president of the National Council on Workforce Education, an association of community colleges and workforce and education professionals affiliated with the American Association of Community Colleges. He has also has testified before Congressional Committees on emerging workforce issues. He holds a master’s degree in industrial relations from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College in Georgia.
