Our Call to Action is this: Together, we must work to create high-paying jobs with ample opportunity for advancement; adequately prepare our workforce and broaden our understanding of what a prepared workforce is; and improve the sustainability, livability and vibrancy of our local communities through responsible planning and improved access to a multitude of transportation options.
We need partners willing to support and adopt collaborative approaches that advance job creation, job preparation and job access. Please heed our call.
Released in December 2014, Growth & Opportunity: A Call to Action situates Northeast Ohio against the national backdrop of rising inequality and stagnant mobility and encourages others to adopt strategies that advance both economic growth and equitable access to opportunity through efforts that simultaneously address job creation, job preparation and job access.
In the 20-page report, our partner, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland offers a snapshot on the state of the Northeast Ohio economy, while three tireless practitioners who live and breathe Growth & Opportunity every day offer their perspectives on job creation (April Miller Boise, vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, Veyance Technologies Inc.), job preparation (Jill Rizika, executive director of Towards Employment) and job access (Jason Segedy of the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study, or AMATS).
