Our Fund is our members. Fund members guide our operations, define the work we do and establish the strategies we support.
Voting members contribute a minimum of $100,000 over three years, with several members contributing much more than that. Since our inception, our Fund has had a one-member, one-vote policy, regardless of the amount contributed, to assure that smaller foundations have a strong voice. Each voting member serves on our board, called the Funders Committee. The Funders Committee meets quarterly to discuss major regional issues, set strategy, review performance and approve major grants. In between Funders Committee meetings, members participate in committees and due diligence teams that shape and guide our work. An Executive Committee oversees the activities of Fund staff and the implementation of our strategy.
Fund members represent a broad philanthropic collaboration, including:
- private, community and corporate foundations,
- higher education institutions,
- health care systems,
- business associations;
- governmental entities, and
- community-based collectives.
Our members' missions vary widely; they range from supporting entrepreneurship, to improving education and health care, to combatting the root causes of poverty. Despite these differences, Fund members agree that a healthy, growing economy is essential to each of their distinct missions.
Our members also vary geographically, working across the Northeast Ohio region, including the metropolitan areas of Akron, Canton, Cleveland-Elyria, and Youngstown-Warren, and surrounding counties.
