After 10 years and $100 Million, Fund for Our Economic Future at a Crossroads

AKRON, Ohio -- How should Northeast Ohio judge the Fund for Our Economic Future, the unprecedented philanthropy collaborative that turned 10 this year?

Amy Liu, who studies the local economy as a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said one way to assess its value might be to look at changes in public attitude.

"Do we feel more optimistic about the future?" she asked a sold out City Club of Cleveland luncheon Tuesday. "I think the answer to that is 'Yes.'"

The Fund, as it's commonly known, helped boost the civic psyche and people appreciate that, Liu said. They might also gulp to learn that the price for the new esteem was about $100 million.
